Pro-Beijing Hong Kong Politician Mocks US “Interference” in HK: America Supports “Terrorist” Rioters

On January 7, 2022, a video featuring pro-Beijing Hong Kong politician Nixie Lam was uploaded to the China Daily Asia YouTube channel. In a mocking tone, Lam said that the United States is famous for “meddling” in other countries and “exporting color revolutions.” Citing a list of “evidence” compiled by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs of American “interference” in Hong Kong, Lam criticized the United States and American leaders for enacting “ill-intended” pro-Hong Kong laws, for issuing “fabricated” statements and fake reports in order to justify sanctions and prevent the implementation of the National Security Law, for “smearing” law enforcement actions in Hong Kong, for colluding with “blood-sucking foreign-funded political puppets” in Hong Kong, and for supporting the pro-democracy protesters in the 2019 riots, who she referred to as terrorists.

Lam said that America’s actions are “deliberate and disgusting.” Lam is a member of Hong Kong’s legislative council and belongs to the pro-Beijing Hong Kong political party, the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB). The video belongs to a series titled “That’s How It Is.”

The Future of Quantum – Driving Innovation and Security from the Government [Video]

Quantum has the potential to drive economic growth and bring innovation to a range of industries, from advancing our national defense to revolutionizing the foundations of computing. With the potential benefits of quantum, there are also significant risks, such as the ability for a quantum computer to break much of the public-key encryption used across the world. Recent initiatives, like the Executive Order on Enhancing the National Quantum Initiative Advisory Committee and the National Security Memorandum on Promoting United States Leadership in Quantum Computing While Mitigating Risks to Vulnerable Cryptographic Systems demonstrate ways in which the government is seeking to balance the opportunities for technological change with the proposed security risks of quantum applications.Join CSIS for the next event in the Future of Quantum Series to discuss the government's approach to promoting and safeguarding against innovations in quantum.---------------------------------------------A nonpartisan institution, CSIS is the top national security think tank in the world.
