We begin with Surah 1:4.
In the HAFS Qur’an, the transliteration of the Arabic says, “Maaliki Yawmi aldeeni”, which when translated means, “The ONLY OWNER of the Day of Recompense”.
The Arabic word in question is: “Maaliki”, which uses the Daggar Alif over the letter Mim = long “A” sound.
In the WARSH Qur’an, the the transliteration of the Arabic says, “Maliki Yawmi aldeeni”, which
when translated means, “The KING of the Day of Recompense”.
The Arabic word in question is: “Maliki”, which does NOT use the Daggar Alif over the letter Mim, but a simple Fatah = short “a” sound.
The Significance: Is Allah THE ONLY OWNER, or is he THE KING of the day of Recompense?
To be fair, he could be both, and that is why Muslims love to only use this example for their model concerning the Qira’at problem, believing all of the other 5,000 differences are just as close as these two words.
You will quickly see that this is not the case at all. More yet to come.
