His Agony And Our Fellowship

by Oswald Chambers: https://utmost.org/classic/today/

We can never fathom the agony in Gethsemane, but at least we need not misunderstand it. It is the agony of God and Man in one, face to face with sin. We know nothing about Gethsemane in personal experience. Gethsemane and Calvary stand for something unique; they are the gateway into Life for us.

It was not the death on the cross that Jesus feared in Gethsemane; He stated most emphatically that He came on purpose to die. In Gethsemane He feared lest He might not get through as Son of Man. He would get through as Son of God — Satan could not touch Him there; but Satan’s onslaught was that He would get through as an isolated Figure only; and that would mean that He could be no Saviour. Read the record of the agony in the light of the temptation: Then the devil “departed from Him for a season.” In Gethsemane Satan came back and was again overthrown. Satan’s final onslaught against our Lord as Son of Man is in Gethsemane.

The agony in Gethsemane is the agony of the Son of God in fulfilling His destiny as the Saviour of the world. The veil is drawn aside to reveal all it cost Him to make it possible for us to become sons of God. His agony is the basis of the simplicity of our salvation. The Cross of Christ is a triumph for the Son of Man. It was not only a sign that Our Lord had triumphed, but that He had triumphed to save the human race. Every human being can get through into the presence of God now because of what the Son of Man went through.

The Profession of FaithExcerpt from Online Missal: https://stjohnpa.org/online-missal/

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.  God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins, and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

Today’s System Can’t Handle Righteous People Founded Upon Godly Wisdom

Sadly, the system now cannot handle intelligent, bright children rooted in Godly wisdom ready to take-on the world. Those children grow into ungovernable adults, entrepreneurs and risk takers grounded in their knowledge of who they are in relation to God’s Word and their enormous value to God – regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, disability or any other personal characteristic.

Did You Know God Loves to Showcase His Mercy?

How would we live our lives if we truly understood that our purpose is to love Him and to love His reflection in our neighbors? The truth is we are chosen, loved, welcomed, counted holy and blameless because of what Christ accomplished on the cross for us. Jesus said “It is finished” (John 19:30) and He alone paid the price for us to be received by His Father in eternity.

Christians, Can We Stop Romanticizing Marriage & Scriptures Already?

Don’t get me wrong, I believe healthy marriages are the foundation to any flourishing society and I’m in no way minimizing or chastising marriage or the need for children and families. I’m simply advocating for realism in our Christian literature and daily devotionals targeted towards women – especially as it relates to the relationship between Christ as the bridegroom and the church as the bride. It's like the Easter Bunny to Christ’s Resurrection or Santa Clause to the Birth of Christ - and it's the exact reason I prefer Oswald Chambers over others like Max Lucado.
