The book of Proverbs tells us that “The tongue has power over life and death.” Norvilia Etienne is living proof of this.
At 17 years old, Norvilia’s mother found out she was pregnant, and seriously considered ending Norvilia’s life through abortion. It was then that Norvilia’s grandmother stepped in to deliver one firm and timely message. Her words saved Norvilia’s life and spared her mom from facing a lifetime of regret.
Ever since Norvilia learned that story, she’s wanted to help other women to have the joy of choosing life, too. When she was a student at Queens College in New York, she worked to start a Students for Life group, knowing that young women on her campus were facing the very same dilemma.
But Norvilia’s school denied her group official status and access to funding. Norvilia knew the stakes, and she didn’t give up.
Here’s how Norvilia took her college to court — and won.
