The Palestinian leadership is again seemingly inciting violence against Israelis just as it did prior to last May’s conflict. On Sunday, two Israeli police officers were stabbed in an attack that was hailed as “heroic” by Hamas. The previous day, another Palestinian terrorist attacked an Israeli while he was jogging in central Jerusalem. That came after another knife attack carried out by a Hamas member which injured Israeli security forces at the entrance of the Temple Mount, Judaism’s holiest site. Earlier this month, two Israeli policemen were injured in a similar incident. The week before, two Israelis were wounded in separate stabbings in Hizma, an Arab town bordering Israel’s capital.Data indicate that there have been major surges in Palestinian terrorist attacks during Ramadan, which this year begins on April 2. A Hamas spokesman said that “the Palestinian people are united behind the gun,” and called on Jerusalem Arabs to “make all friction points with the enemy [Israel] clash points.”It appears the Palestinians are gearing up for an escalation. Yet the media is silent.
Palestinian Islamic scholar Yousef Makharzah said in a March 6, 2022 speech that aired on the Hizb-ut-Tahrir-affiliated Al-Waqiyah TV (Lebanon) that Syrian refugees were driven to Europe by “oppressive Europeans” and that the Europeans are the cause of the Muslims’ tragedies. Makharzah claimed that Europeans practice bestiality to the extent that “they have sex with animals and beasts more than with humans.” He also said that that Western civilization is inferior, asinine, and racist, and that it causes “a man to oppress his brother and kill him with no justification.” In addition, Makharzah asserted that when European colonialist came to Muslim countries, they made the Muslims “more ignorant and shallow” so they would purchase the European consumer goods. Israel’s position on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has been widely scrutinized. Since February 24, a sample of 18 major US news outlets produced a whopping 175 articles analyzing Jerusalem’s approach. Even as Israel has taken the lead in diplomatic efforts to help end the bloodshed — while providing humanitarian assistance to Kiev and condemning Moscow — many outlets have seemingly intentionally misrepresented Jerusalem as insufficiently invested.Meanwhile, not one of these same media have addressed the Palestinian Authority’s near-total silence regarding the crisis. In the words of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken: “The entire world stands with Ukraine” — but not, apparently, the Palestinians. Will the media take notice?

As the world’s eyes are on Russia’s war against Ukraine, negotiations on a return to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal have reached a critical juncture. Russia’s representative to the ongoing negotiations, Mikhail Ulyanov, told Iranian state media that Tehran is liable to get “much more than it could expect” in the Vienna talks. The US has reportedly agreed to lift sanctions on “some of the [Iranian] regime’s worst terrorists and torturers,” as well as leading officials involved in the Islamic Republic’s production of weapons of mass destruction.Ulyanov’s interview coincided with a visit to Iran by the UN’s nuclear chief, Rafael Grossi. It comes amid reports that Tehran has almost doubled its stockpile of uranium enriched up to 60% purity. Meanwhile, Iran’s military unveiled two underground bases for launching attack drones and missiles.Israel this week disclosed that it had intercepted Iranian UAVs en route to Gaza Strip-based terrorist groups.Iran’s campaign of expansionism and terror poses a threat to the entire Middle East — and beyond. Yet news outlets often singularly focus on Israel’s concerns. It’s time for the media to explore the magnitude of the Iranian threat to international peace and security.
In a Friday, February 11, 2022 sermon at the Surda Mosque in the West Bank, Dr. Nasser Al-Qaram, the head of the Shari’a Court of Appeals in Nablus, extolled martyrdom and described rewards granted by Allah to martyrs. Dr. Al-Qaram delivered his sermon on the backdrop of Israeli forces having killed three Fatah terrorists in Nablus earlier that week. Dr. Al-Qaram criticized Arab countries for normalizing relations with the “enemies of Allah,” and he said that the State of Israel was built on a foundation of “terrorism, racism, and extremism.” In addition, Dr. Al-Qaram quoted several verses from the Quran in which Jews are referred to as evil corrupters. The sermon was aired on Palestine TV.
